New Delhi, June 9: Four suspected criminals including Delhi’s top gangster Rajesh Bharti were shot dead in an encounter with Delhi police’s Special Cell in south Delhi’s Chhatarpur area on Saturday. Three police personnel also sustained injuries, a senior police official informed PTI. The criminals, carrying rewards on their head, were severely injured in the encounter and taken to a hospital where they died, the official said.The police is at the spot and the area has been cordoned off. Further details in the incident awaited. The encounter came months after a wanted criminal was killed during an encounter in the Baraula area of Noida. Special task forces of the Uttar Pradesh and the Haryana police had intercepted a car and were fired upon by the vehicle’s occupant. In retaliatory fire, the criminal, Balraj Bhati, was injured and he was declared brought dead at a hospital, Superintendent of Police (SP), UP-STF (West), Rajiv Narain Mishra had informed. The Delhi Police had announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh on his arrest and the Uttar Pradesh Police Rs 50,000.
