According to a Times of India report, the victim’s brother has filed a complaint with the anti-human trafficking unit in Gumla district. He has demanded action against one Rocky Singh of Delhi. Reportedly, he has stated that another trafficker Suraj Mahli had informed the parents of the victim that the girl had died eight years ago. However, Suraj Mahli, who is a resident of Palkot block of the district, had allegedly “sold” the girl to a placement agency.
The victim picture was clicked during the gathering of a placement agency in Delhi. Another girl, who was also from Gumla district, had clicked the picture and sent to a boy from Basia a few days ago. The victim’s family members immediately recognised her. Meanwhile, a case has been registered against Mahli.

The couple ran two NGOs namely Sampoorn Gharelu Kaamgaar Sarvekshan Evam Utthan Samiti and Sampoorn Adivasi Sanskritik Utthan Manch. They were accused of selling many tribal girls of Jharkhand by taking them to metro cities with the promise of getting them “job placements”.
