New Delhi, June 12: In a shocking case, owner of a top brass lounge in the national capital threatened to infect a businessman with HIV in order to extort a sum of Rs. 3 crores to settle a gangrape case in which the owner as well as the businessman was involved. The accused lounge owner Vikas Mittal told the businessman’s brother that he would infect his brother with HIV inside the jail itself to coax the man into paying the alleged sum of money.

Mittal along with two others were arrested from for trying to extort money from the businessman. The police team arrested Mittal and others after the businessman’s brother met the former and his men at an office in Netaji Subhash place. While the businessman’s brother met Mittal, police personnel dressed in civilian clothes remained outside and captured the accused later. Police said that the businessmen and the four accused were sent to jail after a woman, employed with Mittal’s lounge, alleged  gangrape in a hotel in Alwar. A case was then registered in Alwar on May 5.

The police further said that Mittal was trying to scare the businessman and his brother by saying that either he would be given AIDS injection or his drinking water would be infected with bacteria. DCP (northwest) Aslam Khan confirmed the same. Khan added that initially Mittal wanted to pocket Rs. 5 crore and had already managed to take Rs. 1.10 crore from the businessman’s brother. After being harassed by Mittal repeatedly, the frustrated brother made a call to the police and provided the police with evidence against Mittal. At least 200 audio tapes, over 100 Whatsapp messages and CCTV footage was provided to the police by the businessman’s brother.

Mittal and the businessman along with three others were accused of gangrape by a woman who worked in Mittal’s lounge. Among the three others arrested, one was Mohit Goel,  founder and former director of Ringing Bells who made headlines last year with the ‘Freedom’ smartphone, priced at Rs 251.
