New Delhi, June 4: A 38-year-old man named Sandeep Chauhan, a taekwondo teacher was arrested for breaking into a woman’s house, raping and trying to kill her on May 29. The man who has already been booked on several occasions for molesting, stalking and robbery, was out on bail when he committed this crime. Chauhan, serial offender has about a dozen cases levied against him which includes sexual harassment, robbery, snatching among other crimes, stated the police records. The victim in her statement spoke about her ordeal and how it all happened. The accused, Chauhan forced himself inside the house and locked her when she returned from the office. Thereafter, he tied the woman’s hand and legs and forcefully made her drink. It was then he raped her and tried to strangulate her as well. He left the house at 4 am and took the woman’s phone as well. The woman went through this trauma for nearly 6 hours. The woman went the next day to the Vasant Kunj (north) police station to get the crime lodged and hence narrated the whole incident. The police after listening to the woman’s tale of horror took the description of the accused, after which the accused was confirmed. The police arrested Chauhan on the basis of the reports and booked him under Section 376 (rape), 307 (attempt to murder), 392 (robbery), 328 (poisoning), 342 (wrongful confinement) and 506 (threatening) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Chauhan, who is a serial offender was arrested for allegedly sexually harassing a woman last year but was released on bail later. Soon afterwards, he was again arrested for masturbating in front of two women. Chauhan was sent to a 14-day judicial custody but was again released on bail.
