New Delhi, July 27: A 29-year-old man has been arrested by Delhi Police for allegedly posting a woman’s fake profile on pornographic websites whom he was set to get engaged with, according to a Times of India report.

The woman, who works as an air hostess with an international airline, was about to get engaged with the accused – a junior engineer with Military Engineer Services – in June after the two and their families met through a matrimonial website.

However, soon after, the man started avoiding her and even switched off his phone.

When being pressurised by the woman, the man told her that the engagement was not happening and she should stop contacting him, and also threatened her of dire consequences.

Soon, she started receiving anonymous calls asking for dates. On asking the caller where they got her number from, she discovered that her fake profiles were posted on some pornographic websites. The woman even realised that her private photographs had been misused by the accused.

Terrified over this, the woman tried to contact the man and even asked the websites to remove the fake profiles. However, after all her efforts going in vain, the woman told about this to her parents and then contacted the police.

Detained for questioning, the accused said that he never wanted to marry the woman, and only wanted to date her for some time. But when he felt threatened that the woman might take legal action him, he decided to blackmail her, Times of India cited the accused as saying.
