New Delhi: The Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) will now be accepting Delhi metro cards announced the Delhi government on Friday. The Delhi Transport Department in its print advertisement said, “Great news for the people of Delhi! Metro card is now valid on all DTC and cluster buses.”

This move to enable the metro cards in all the DTC and cluster buses will enable thousands of people to commute easily and enjoy hassle-free rides throughout the national capital. The metro cards are already available at all the DTC outlets where the passes for commuting in buses are made.

As per a government official, “With this step, travel of commuters on Metro and DTC buses will become smoother. A pilot project in this regard has been a success. Now, it will be applicable to all the buses.” Government officials were of the view that this move would help in popularising the use of public buses among those who commute using Metros.

In the month of January, the government had launched the pilot project on the use of Metro cards to pay fares on around 250 buses. It must, however, be noted that the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) had integrated the common mobility card with its feeder buses and a few parking lots.
