New Delhi: Now health checkups won’t take too long as the New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) is organising a health ATM which would be providing test reports in five minutes. Normally, reports of blood tests easily take a couple of days.
Now, NDMC would be employing techniques which are being used in many developed countries and would be able to give reports right away. The machine would be able to calculate Body Mass Index (BMI), and test blood sugar, blood pressure, malaria and typhoid as well. As of now, the machine has been installed at Palika Kendra but its success has propelled the Delhi government to mull putting it up at different hospitals in the city.
Each machine would have a paramedic staff to conduct the tests. Operating the machine is very easy. First, a person has to enter his mobile number and then, like an ATM machine, the equipment guides a person through the whole process.
Once one has given the sample, the reports can be seen on the screen or one can get their printouts as well. This process could help expedite treatment because the required reports would be out sooner.

Meanwhile, the country’s second largest private sector lender ICICI Bank has tied up primary healthcare aggregator HealthAssure to offer its NRI customers complimentary access to discounted healthcare services in the country for themselves and their families.

The facility, which offers up to 50 per cent discounts, will be available for its NRI Pro and Premia savings account holders, the bank said. The list of benefits includes discounts of up to 50 per cent on health checkups and consultations. Customers will also be able to avail discounts on home-care services.
