New Delhi: In a major breakthrough, the Delhi Police Special Cell on Monday arrested a member of the Popular Front of India (PFI) in connection with the protests against Citizenship (Amendment) Act in the national capital. According to reports, the person identified as Danish has been arrested for spreading false propaganda during anti-CAA protests. The police has also charged him with circulating money to fund anti-CAA protests across the national capital.
Sources have claimed that his arrest is crucial as it has given clues regarding the Information war by the Popular Front of India (PFI).
Earlier on Sunday, a Kashmiri couple allegedly linked to the Islamic State’s Khorasan module was held for instigating anti-CAA protests in Delhi.
The couple, identified as Jahanjeb Sami and Hinda Bashir Beg, was arrested from Okhla’s Jamia Nagar and the police seized some objectionable material from them.
The Delhi Police has so far filed over 700 cases and nabbed nearly 2,400 people in connection with the recent communal violence in northeast Delhi.
