New Delhi: An assistant sub-inspector with the Delhi Police reportedly committed suicide by jumping in front of the Metro at Jahangirpuri Metro Station. A resident of Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district, Kumar was on medical leave from February 2 to March 4. He had extended his leave for one more month and was supposed to join duty on April 4, police officials said. He jumped before the Metro train at Jahangirpuri station on Thursday afternoon following which he was taken to a nearby hospital. Preliminary investigations revealed that Kumar was suffering from depression. However, no suicide note has been recovered.
Kumar was undergoing treatment at a government hospital in Kangra. A probe is on to ascertain the actual reason behind the ASI’s suicide.
Kumar was posted with the communications unit of the Delhi Police.
Last month, a Delhi police constable shot himself with his service gun while he was on duty at the police control room in Dayalpur. The constable, who was identified as Suresh, had left a suicide note which revealed that he was in depression after his father’s death.
