The first image has surfaced showing the suspect behind the wheel of the Hyundai i20 that exploded near Delhi’s Red Fort on Monday night, killing eight people and injuring several others. According to reports, the suspect has been identified as Mohammad Umar, a doctor associated with the Faridabad terror module. Umar was employed at Al Falah Medical College in Faridabad and is believed to have close ties with Adeel Ahmad Rather, a former senior resident doctor at the Government Medical College (GMC) in Anantnag, who was arrested last week. Based on Rather’s interrogation, authorities conducted a series of raids in Faridabad on Monday.
Sources told India Today that Umar was inside the car at the time of the explosion and is suspected to have orchestrated the attack along with two associates. Investigators believe the blast was executed hastily after the arrests in Faridabad earlier that day, suggesting it may have been an act of panic.
Umar and his accomplices reportedly installed a detonator inside the vehicle before carrying out the explosion. Forensic teams have since confirmed that the blast involved Ammonium Nitrate Fuel Oil (ANFO), a high-powered explosive compound.
The explosion took place during the evening rush hour, when the area near the Red Fort Metro station, a major tourist hub was packed with vehicles and pedestrians.
A post going viral on social media states that terror outfit LeT has claimed responsibility for the deadly Delhi Red Fort car blast. The post says, “The Indian capital, New Delhi, was attacked today, November 10, 2025, at 5 pm by the brave and fierce Tigers of Lashkar-e-Taiba. This assault was in retaliation for the martyrdom at Bilal mosque in Kashmir a few months ago, where over fifty Hindu Banias were killed. Praise be to God. Lashkar-e-Taiba vows to take revenge for every brick of mosques and reach every temple. The fight will continue until Kashmir is free and India is destroyed.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah will chair a high-level security review meeting at Kartavya Bhawan at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, a day after the explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station area.
The meeting will be attended by the Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Kumar Deka, Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha and National Investigation Agency (NIA) Director General (DG) Sadanand Vasant Date, while the Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat will join virtually.
