New Delhi, Nov 13: After a five-day break announced by the Delhi government in view of the alarming air pollution levels, all schools in the national capital reopened on Monday.
“Schools will reopen on Monday and the break is not being further extended,” a Delhi government official had said yesterday.
However, institutes in Gurugram will remain closed on Monday due to continuing smog. Talking to a leading portal, Gurugram Deputy Commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh had said,”All government and private schools are to be closed on November 13 due to the continuing smog situation in past 48 hours.”
In the wake of incessant air pollution and smog, some schools in Delhi have also shifted their winter opening and closing timings by an hour. Speaking to news agency ANI, teachers said,”Collective efforts must be made, closing schools not a solution.”
Meanwhile, after a brief let-up, the pollution levels skyrocketed in Delhi with the air quality becoming hazardous, which environmental agencies consider unfit for inhalation even by healthy people. The pollution monitoring authorities said there may be some respite from tomorrow evening as surface winds will gain momentum.
