New Delhi: Three people who were trespassing the railway tracks near Nangloi Railway Station in north Delhi district were run over by a train at about 7:15 AM on Monday, said the railways. The three people who were sitting on the railway track were allegedly drunk when Train no 12446 Bikaner-Delhi Express mowed them to death.
The train driver had been sirening for long to alert the trio. However, the men did not vacate the tracks, said local police.
Police are yet to identify the deceased. The Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of the Northern railways stated that legal action is being undertaken in this regard. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) along with staff, Government Railway Police (GRP) and Civil Police reached the spot soon after the accident.
The incident has occurred in the wake of the Amritsar train tragedy. At least 60 spectators of Dusshera’s ‘Ravan dahan’ were run over by a train on October 19. The train was heading to Amritsar from Jalandhar. The accident took place at Joda Phatak.
