New Delhi: A week after normalcy returned to Northeast Delhi, Congress leader and MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Wednesday said that a delegation of his party leaders led by Rahul Gandhi will visit the violence-affected area later in the day. However, the time of Rahul’s visit have not been finalised yet by the Congress. The development comes after Rahul earlier in the day said that his party is insisting on the government to discuss the issue of Delhi violence in the Parliament. For the past two days, both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha have been witnessing pandemonium over the Opposition’s continuous demand for an immediate discussion on Delhi violence that has claimed over 47 lives and injured more than 200 people.
Earlier in the day, Congress MPs Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Manickam Tagore, Manish Tewari, and Jasbir Singh Gill submitted adjournment motion notices in Lok Sabha over the Delhi violence and demanded discussion in the House over the matter.
On Wednesday morning, Lok Sabha was adjourned till 12 noon following ruckus by Opposition leaders demanding discussion on the issue of Delhi violence.
On their visit to the Northeast Delhi, the delegation of Congress MPs will assess the situation on the ground.
In the wake of the violence in Northeast Delhi, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi had last week deputed a five-member team to visit the riot-affected areas and submit a report to her after assessing the situation.
The communal violence in northeast Delhi erupted after a clash between pro and anti-CAA protesters in Jaffrabad area. Later it started spreading to toher nearby areas such as Maujapur and Bhajanpura areas.
