New Delhi: Following the death of Intelligence Bureau (IB) staffer Ankit Sharma, whose body was recovered from a drain in Chand Bagh area of the national capital on Wednesday, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Tahir Hussain is making headlines for his alleged role in the officer’s death. The father of the deceased IB staffer, Ravinder Sharma, has alleged that Hussain was responsible behind the death of his son. “Around 20 people came from Hussain’s building and took him along with a few others. When people went there to free them, shots were fired and attacked with petrol bombs,” a report by Deccan Herald quoted Ravindra Sharma as saying. In a video doing rounds on social media, Tahir Hussain could be seen saying that a mob took over his house and used it to launch attacks. During all this, he said, he and his family were sent away to a different location. He has not returned to his house since, he added.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kapil Mishra took the opportunity to train guns on the AAP. He tweeted a video, in which, he blamed Tahir Hussain for leading the mob who were pelting stones and hurling petrol bombs.
Notably, Ankit Sharma is believed to have died of a bullet injury and his body bore injury marks of severe beatings too. The post-mortem report is awaited.
