According to The Times of India report, the victim’s mother saw her daughter crying in the corner after she returned from work. The daughter informed her that their neighbour entered the house on the pretext of getting sugar. He then raped her. The mother told the cops that she had always asked her daughter to only open the door if the person was known to her. In an earlier incident on April 26, a 12-year-old girl was “rescued” from a madrasa in Sahidabad, after being allegedly abducted and raped by a 17-year-old Delhi’s Ghazipur area. The girl had reportedly gone “missing” from her house in east Delhi on April 21. According to reports, the girl went missing after she went to the market. After a case was registered in this regard by the survivor’s father, the police found a CCTV footage in which the accused was seen taking the girl along with him in an auto-rickshaw. On April 25, the protesters blocked roads in Delhi’s Ghazipur area demanding death for the culprit in the alleged rape of a 12-year-old girl in a madrasa. Protesters blocked NH 24 for some time and shouted slogans shouting “maulvi ko phaansi do” (hang the maulvi). A candlelight protest was also organised by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha at India Gate where BJP MPs Maheish Girri and Manoj Tiwari were present.
