New Delhi, Aug 17: Upset over being turned down by a young woman he was interested in, a 24-year-old man allegedly created her fake Facebook identity and uploaded her explicit photos there, said media reports on Friday. He reportedly sent a copy of those photos to the woman’s prospective in-laws. Police swung into action when the woman lodged a complaint, the accused was arrested from Delhi’s Amar Colony on Thursday, said The Times of India. DCP (southeast) Chinmoy Biswal told the daily that a case was registered under IPC sections of rape (376) and Section 67 and 67B of the IT Act. POCSO Act was also pressed against the accused as probe revealed that the woman was sexually assaulted when she was 17. In her complaint, the woman told police that in 2016, the accused had raped her after giving her some intoxicant. He also took explicit photographs of her while she was still unconscious and would later use them to blackmail her. The woman was allegedly raped by the accused till April 2016. This year, she got engaged after her family fixed her marriage. The accused then allegedly started threatening her to call off the marriage and marry him instead. When the woman did not relent, he allegedly created a fake Facebook account of hers and uploaded the images on it. He also sent those photos to the woman’s in-laws, leading to a break-up. The woman’s family then contacted the police. She has shown the text messages from the accused, along with the images that he had circulated on the social media. Police raided the accused’s hideout and arrested him. He confessed to sexually assaulting the woman, when she was a minor, and blackmailing her.
