New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced during a press conference that under the new Solar Policy, the Delhi government will promote rooftop solar through the Utility-Led Aggregation (ULA) model. This will be implemented through a competitive bidding process managed by IPGCL to ensure better prices and quality for consumers.
The Chief Minister stated that IPGCL will handle the entire process, including installation, vendor coordination, grievance redressal, and consumer facilitation. Additionally, the selected vendor will provide free Operation and Maintenance (O&M) for the first 5 years.
She added that for consumer convenience, the solar net metering timeline has been reduced from 75 days to 25 days. Furthermore, application and registration charges have been completely waived for residential solar systems up to 10 kW.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the Delhi Solar Policy aims to develop an additional 500 MW of rooftop solar capacity by March 2027. She stated that work on this policy will be fast-tracked to move Delhi toward clean energy and a self-reliant power framework.
