Jammu, Oct 24 : The son of a senior BJP leader and the sitting Member Legislative Council (MLC) Ramesh Arora today died due to dengue, becoming the first victim of the vector-borne disease in Jammu region this year. He was shifted to the Punjab few days ago after being diagnosed with dengue, an official statement issued here read. However, Director Health Services, Jammu, Dr Gurjeet Singh feigned ignorance about the first case of death reported in the region due to the vector-borne disease. “I have no knowledge about him of dying of dengue, but so far we don’t have a single patient admitted in any hospital in Jammu who is suffering from dengue. 74 persons have been tested positive with dengue in the region and they are recovering at their respective homes,” Singh said. Singh said that the situation in Jammu region was under control and the health department was fully prepared to deal with any eventuality. The director of the private hospital where Sadhaya was under treatment did not respond to repeated calls. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh in a statement condoled the demise of Sadhaya. Praying for the departed soul; the Deputy Chief Minister expressed his heartfelt sympathy with the bereaved family, it said.
