Ahmedabad, Nov 27: The voting for Gujarat Assembly elections 2017 in Dharampur, Valsad, Pardi, Kaprada and Umbergaon Assembly constituencies will be held on December 9. Dharampur, Valsad, Pardi, Kaprada and Umbergaon fall under Valsad Lok Sabha constituency. The main fight in Dharampur, Valsad, Pardi, Kaprada and Umbergaon Assembly constituencies is between the incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the challenger Indian National Congress (INC). The contest will see participation from several independent, regional and national parties too.
Constituency number 178, Dharampur will go to polls on December 9. The results of this constituency will be announced on December 18. The seat, which is reserved for Scheduled Tribe candidates, is currently held by Ishvarbhai Dhedabhai Patel of the Indian National Congress (INC). He had won against Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Chaudhari Sumitraben Batukbhai in 2012. The seat was won by INC’s Chaudhari Chhanabhai Kolubhai in 2007 with 64243 votes. In the Gujarat Assembly elections 2017, the seat will see competetion between INC’s Ishwarbhai D. Patel and BJP’s Arvindbhai Patel.
Constituency number 179, Valsad, is currently held by BJP’s Bharatbhai Kikubhai Patel who had registered victory from here in 2012 with 93,658 votes against INC’s Patel Dharmesh Alias Bhola Ambelal. In the Gujarat Assembly Elections 2017, the Congress had fielded Narendra J. Tandel from this seat against BJP’s Bharatbhai Patel. The voting on this seat will be held on December 9 and the results will be announced on December 18.
Constituency number 180, Pardi, will see a tough fight between INC’s Bharatbhai M. Patel and BJP’s Kanubhai Desai. It will go to polls on December 9. The results will be announced on December 18. The seat is currently held by Kanubhai Mohanlal Desai of the BJP. He had defeated INC’s Hemant Manubhai Desai in 2012 Gujarat Assembly elections.
Constituency number 181, Kaprada, is reserved for the Scheduled Tribe candidates. It is currently held by Chaudhari Jitubhai Harajibhai of the INC who had won it against BJP’s Prakashbhai Shankarbhai Patel in 2012 Gujarat Assembly elections. The seat, in Gujarat Assembly elections 2017, will see contest between Madhubhai Bapubhai Raut of the BJP and Jitubhai H. Chaudhary of the INC.
Constituency number 182, Umbergaon, is held by the BJP’s Ramanlal Nanubhai Patkar. He had defeated INC’s Govindbhai Vestabhai Patel in 2012. In Gujarat Assembly elections 2017, the BJP has announced Ramanbhai Nanubhai Paatakar as its candidate for the seat, which is reserved for the candidates belonging to the Scheduled Tribes. The Congress is yet to announce it candidate.
The results for phase 1 and phase 2 of Gujarat Assembly elections 2017 will be announced on December 18.
