New Delhi, March 3: The results for Tripura Assembly Elections 2018 has been declared on Saturday. Counting in assembly constituencies Dharmanagar, Jubarajnagar, Panisagar, Pencharthal, and Kanchanpur has gone over. Here are the results.   • PREM KUMAR REANG of Indigenousn People’s Front Of Tripura has won in Kanchanpur.
  • SANTANA CHAKMA of Bharatiya Janata Party has defeated ANIL CHAKMA of the Communist Party of India (Marxist).
  • Binay Bhushan Das of BJP is leading. Ajit Kumar Das of CPIM is trailing by 280 votes.
  • Ramendra Chandra Debnath of Communist Part of India (Marxist) is leading in Jubarajnagar and is expected to win.
  • Biswabandhu Sen of Bharatiya Janata Party has won in Dharmanagar.

The Congress party is contesting the elections alone. The main contest is between the Communist Party of India– Marxist (CPIM) and BJP-IPFT alliance. 292 candidates are in the fray. Polling was conducted on February 18 with record 92 per cent turnout. CPIM’s Manik Sarkar is the chief minister of the state since 1998– the BJP would want to topple him from government with the electoral win. Dharmanagar: The main fight in Dharmanagar is between the CPI(M), BJP and Congress. While CPI (M) fielded Abhijit De, BJP has fielded Biswa Bandhu Sen. The Congress party has fielded Kebal Kanti Nandi. In 2013, Congress’ Biswabandhu Sen had defeated CPM’s Amitabha Datta. Jubarajnagar: The Congress party has fielded Digbijoy Chakraborty, BJP has nominated Jadab Lal Debnath, CPI(M) has fielded Ramendra Chandra Debnath. All India Trinamool Congress’ Ratneshbar Debnath, Amra Bangalee’s Ramesh Chandra Debnath are also in poll battle. CPM’s Ramendra Chandra Debnath had defeated Congress party’s Ranadhir Nath.



Panisagar: Congress has fielded Gouranga Das Talukdar, CPI(M) has fielded Ajit Kumar Das and Bharatiya Janata Party has shown its faith on Binay Bhushan Das.  In 2013, the constituency was won by CPM’s Subodh Das.

Pencharthal: CPI(M) has fielded Anil Chakma whereas BJP has chosen Santana Chakma for 2018 Assembly elections, . Congress candidate Nandini Chakma and Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra’s (INPT) Daniel Sangma are also in the fray along with Independent and regional parties candidates. CPM’s Arun Kumar Chakma had won the seat in 2013 Assembly polls.

Kanchanpur: The main fight is between Congress, CPI(M), IPFT and INPT. While Congress has fielded Ranjit Kumar Reang CPI (M) has shown its faith in Rajendra Reang. IPFT has fielded Prem Kumar Reang and INPT has nominated Sindrai Reang from Kanchanpur constituency, which is reserved for ST candidates. In 2013, CPM’s Rajendra Reang had defeated INPT’s Drao Kumar Reang from Kanchanpur.
