New Delhi: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s daughter, Naimisha Pradhan, on Wednesday disabled her Instagram account after facing a massive online backlash over her degree from abroad. Naimisha completed her Master’s degree in law from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University in Massachusetts. Amid the ongoing protest by the Cockroach Janta Party at Jantar Mantar over the NEET paper leak, Instagram users found Naimisha’s account and started flooding the comment sections, tagging her. The protesters are demanding Pradhan’s resignation as the education minister.
The protest intensified on Monday following police action on student protesters during the march to Parliament to raise their issues.
Users have questioned Naimisha’s education in a foreign country and demanded her father resignation over the alleged NEET paper leak. Netizens also started commenting on posts made by Tufts University, writing ‘Dharmendra Pradhan resign’.
As per reports, Naimisha completed her LLM degree in 2023 and joined the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) as a senior associate.
One of the posts claimed that Naimisha completed her education abroad because of the education system in the country. “You’re studying abroad because you know what millions of Indian students already know: our education system is failing them,” the post read.
In his first reaction to the CJP protest, the education minister slammed Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi. He said that the central government is ready to discuss the NEET issue and address the concerns of youths in the parliament.
“LoP Shri @RahulGandhi and @INCIndia continue to shamelessly exploit students as political tools to manufacture disruption during the Monsoon Session of Parliament,” Pradhan said in a post on X.
Reacting to Rahul and other leaders’ sit-in protest outside the residence of the Prime Minister, he said that the protest caused “inconvenience to the public and disregarded established security protocols.”
“For Rahul Gandhi, this is not about students. This is about manufacturing confrontation after every genuine avenue for discussion has been opened,” Pradhan said in the post.
“We owe our students more than outrage. We owe them answers, reforms and accountability. That is exactly what our government remains committed to delivering,” Pradhan added.
CJP national spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka told news agency ANI that the protesters had been staging a peaceful protest for over 30 days. He termed the protest “the biggest movement in India’s post-independence history”
Ranka alleged that the march held on Monday, July 20, was peaceful until the Delhi Police, according to him, used force against peaceful protesters. He claimed that the protesting students were thrashed during the peaceful protest.
“The youth of this country will no longer remain silent. We have been distracted by too many unnecessary issues. Now we are standing up for the real issues, and we are not going to back down,” Ranka told news agency PTI.
Ranka said that his party would escalate its protest if the centre government did not accept its demands, terming the July 20 protest “just a trailer”. He warned that “millions more” would come to the national capital to participate in the protest if the government failed to act.
He reiterated CJP’s demand that no FIRs be registered against protesters, emphasising that the protest would not end unless the demand was met.
Reiterating CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke’s remarks, Ranka said the party’s leadership is prepared to face legal action under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the National Security Act (NSA).
Ranka also appealed to political parties to support the protest, saying their demands were “genuine”.
