Mumbai, Feb 1: The prices of petrol and diesel were up again just ahead of Budget 2018 with diesel price reaching a new record high and petrol reaching fresh three-year high. Petrol in Mumbai cost Rs 80.91 per litre on Thursday, February 1, while diesel price was at Rs 68.27 per litre, both 12 paise higher than yesterday. In Delhi, petrol price was at 73.05 per litre while diesel price was at Rs 64.11 per litre today. All eyes are now on Union Budget 2018 to be presented by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley at 11 am in Parliament today. There have been demands from both political leaders as well as corporates to bring petrol and diesel under the purview of Goods and Services Tax (GST). The Oil Ministry had also reportedly written to the Finance Ministry urging it to bring down excise duty on petrol and diesel in this Budget.
