New Delhi, June 11: AICC general secretary Digvijaya Singh apologised, a day after he tweeted a picture of a damaged metro pillar from Pakistan, claiming it to be a railway bridge in Bhopal. Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, on June 10 Singh had posted a picture questioning the quality of the over-bridge.
“This is a pillar of an under-construction railway overbridge at Subhash Nagar Railway Gate at Bhopal. The cracks on it raise questions over its quality. hope what happened in Varanasi doesn’t happen here too,” Singh had tweeted yesterday, along with a photograph of a bridge with a pillar that had developed cracks on it.
The Congress leader realised his mistake after a website AltNews pointed out that the image tweeted by Digvijaya is an old photograph of a bridge in Rawalpindi, Pakistan.
Post, AltNews’ tweet, Digvijaya tweeted, “My apologies. One of my friend sent it to me. My fault I didn’t check-up (sic).”
Taking a dig at his former counterpart, Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan said,”Don’t know why he thought that irregularities still occure in Madhya Pradesh like during his tenure.”
