New Delhi: Hours amid the reports that Digvijaya Singh and Jyotiraditya Scindia got into a verbal spat during the party’s Central Election Committee meeting for the selection of candidates for the Madhya Pradesh Assembly Election 2018, the former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister rubbished the claims, saying “we are one”. The Congress leader took to Twitter to set aside the reports of a tiff with Scindia and said, “It is being wrongly reported in press that I and Jyotiraditya Scindhia ji had any argument and Rahul ji had to intervene. All of us in MP Congress are one and determined to defeat the corrupt BJP Govt in MP (sic).” Also Read - Don't Panic, This is Delhi Government's WhatsApp Number: Kejriwal on Delhi's Corona Battle
Amid the reports that the grand-old party was witnessing intense infighting over ticket distribution for the upcoming Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) attacked the Congress party saying that Rahul Gandhi is “confused”, and the Congress under him is “defused”.
“Rahul is a confused President and under a confused President, the Congress is defused. The kind of infighting within the Congress…Digvijaya Singh (former Chief Minister) takes on Jyotiraditya Scindia (Congress MP) openly and that too in front of Rahul Gandhi,” BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said at a press conference here.
He said that Digvijaya Singh writing a letter to Sonia Gandhi saying he was not being heard in the party shows that the Congress has lost the battle in five states and it also shows that in 2019 the Congress and Rahul Gandhi are facing a debacle. “The people of this country are not confused. They want a strong government and not a weak government,” he said. The claims, however, have been rubbished by Singh.
“In the same case I would like to point out that I was not GS AICC on 27/10/18 the letterhead on which this letter has been supposedly written,” he said in another tweet.
