New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday lambasted Congress and claimed that the grand old party mainstreamed Maoism during its tenure in power. Addressing a press conference,  BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said some within the Congress have romanticised Naxalism and the biggest example of this was the National Advisory Council (NAC). “There are some who have romanticised Naxalism within the Congress party. The biggest example of this was the National Advisory Council (NAC) by Congress, which was the brainchild of Sonia Gandhi and closest to her. Furthermore he claimed that a letter written by 2 comrades Surendra and Prakash on September 25, 2017, contained a phone number which belong to former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh. “A letter between 2 comrades Surendra and Prakash of 25 Sept 2017 has been found in recent raids. A line in letter reads, ‘Congress leaders are very much willing to assist in this process and have also agreed to fund further agitations whenever such opportunities arrive’, ” Patra told reporters. He added,”In this regard, you can contact our friend on this ….. number. This phone number belongs to none other than Rahul Gandhi’s mentor and Congress leader Digvijay Singh. Reacting to Patra’s allegations, Congress leader Digvijaya Singh said,”If his claims are true then government should arrest me. (Agar aisa hai, to mujhe sarkaar giraftar kare. Pehle deshdrohi, ab Naxali. Isiliye, yahin se giraftar mujhe karaiye).”
