Does India Belong to Vinay Katiyar’s Father, Asks Farooq Abdullah After BJP MP’s ‘Muslims Should go to Pakistan’ Remark

Sparking a controversy, the BJP MP on Wednesday said that Muslims should not live in this country and they should either go to Pakistan or Bangladesh.

Srinagar, Feb 8: Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah on Thursday responded to BJP MP Vinay Katiyar‘s “Muslims should not even be living in this country, they should go to Pakistan or Bangladesh” remarks and asked if India belongs to his father. “Wo roz aisi hi bat karte hain. Ye desh unke baap ka hai? (He says such things daily. Does India belong to his father?),” Abdullah was quoted as saying by ANI.

Sparking a controversy, the BJP MP on Wednesday said that Muslims should not live in this country and they should either go to Pakistan or Bangladesh. He further added that a bill should be introduced in Parliament which punishes those “who do not respect Vande Mataram, (and) those who insult the national flag, or hoist the Pakistani flag.”

“Muslims shouldn’t even live in this country. They partitioned this country based on their population, so why do they need to live here? They should go to Pakistan or Bangladesh, what business do they have here? There should be a bill that punishes those who do not respect Vande Matram, those who insult the national flag… those who hoist the Pakistani flag, they should be punished” said Katiyar.

Without naming Owaisi, Katiyar further said, “Muslims divided the country.”

Katiyar’s remarks were a response to AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi demanding a law which punishes with anyone, three-year jail term, who calls an Indian Muslim a Pakistani. “Even after 70 years, I am being called a Pakistani. Why? We rejected Jinnah’s invitation. Now I can’t even hoist the tricolour at free will. Why can’t there be a law just like those that apply to SC/STs?” Times Now quoted Owaisi as saying.
