New Delhi: A 35-year-old resident of Dombivli complained of chest pain after she had a scuffle with a few neighbours who took great offence at her dog, which kept barking. The dog was a stray one which the woman, identified as Nagamma Shetty, kept as a pet. When Nagamma went to Manpada police station to file a complaint against the assaulters, who were local women, police asked her to go to the hospital. But she went home, DCP Vivek Pansare said.

“Victim had a scuffle with the accused, for which she lodged a police complaint. She was then asked to go to the hospital but she went to her home instead. Later she had chest pain, went to the hospital and died there. Postmortem report states she died of heart attack,” the DCP said.

Nagamma, a widow, used to work as domestic help. Her daughter said the women hit her mother on the chest. A case of accidental death has been registered.
