New Delhi: The uncle of Dr. Kafeel Khan, Nusrutullah Ahmad Warsi, who was a property dealer, was shot dead in the last night in front of his house in Gorakhpur’s Rajghat, news agency Press Trust of India (PTI) has reported. The 55-year-old, who was also known as Dada, was shot last night around 10:45 PM and a case has been registered against two persons in connection with the incident. According to the police, as per PTI, the murder appears to have taken place due to monetary and property dispute and a manhunt has been launched to nab the two suspects who are absconding. “On the written complaint of family members, a case of murder against one Imammuddin and Anil Sonkar has been registered. We have initiated a probe and are searching for both the accused. We met the women in their house and are interrogating them,” PTI quoted Circle Officer VP Singh as saying. The incident took place when Nusrutullah was returning from his lawyer’s house, which is close to his own house. A man shot him in the head, killing him on the spot.
In June 2018, Dr. Kafeel’s brother too was injured after being shot at by three unidentified assailants in Gorakhpur. He, fortunately, survived the attack.
Dr. Kafeel Khan, who came to the limelight in 2017 after deaths of over 60 children at Gorakhpur’s BRD Hospital, was recently arrested for an alleged inflammatory speech against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) and was booked under the stringent National Security Act (NSA).
