Islamabad/New Delhi, October 26: The major earthquake measuring 7.7 in the Richter Scale in the Afghanistan’s Hindukush area on Monday had claimed 11 lives in Pakistan as per the latest report. Also due to the earthquake, phone lines in Jammu and Kashmir have gone down. The tremors which were also felt in the North Indian states have till now have not claimed any lives though. Sources in the meteorological department had said that the earthquake took place in 100 feet under the surface of the earth in Afghanistan. Due to its effects, tremors in the North Indian states like Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh and New Delhi. Though no causality has been reported in from India, Pakistan have said that four people have died due to this earthquake. Also details of any casualty in Afghanistan have not been reported as yet. Pakistan officials have already issued a high alert. Prime Minister Narendra Modi too said that he has informed his ministers to be in touch with the Pakistan and Afghanistan officials and have directed them to lend a helping hand in the time of crisis. He had also asked for an assessment report. Indian Air Force and the Indian Army have been inducted into action. As per the reports, the tremors were felts for more than five seconds.
