New Delhi, June 2: An earthquake measuring 4.7 hit Haryana early on Friday morning. Tremors were felt in parts of Delhi NCR as well as North India. The earthquake struck at 4:25 am and the epicentre was 17km from Gohana in Haryana, according to USGS. Gohana is close to Rohtak.
Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department has pegged the earthquake at 5 on the Richter Scale. People shared the information over social media and posted messages of having felt the earthquake. According to USGS, the depth of the earthquake was 10 km.

While speaking to news agency ANI, Seismology Department scientist Ved Prakash Thakur informed that the tremors were felt at 4.25 am. “The magnitude of the earthquake was 5 on Ritcher Scale which is moderate,” he said.
Some people say the tremors were felt for almost one minute. The USGS, which put the quake at 4.9 magnitude, later updated it to 4.7. There have been no reports of casualties or damages. More details are awaited.
Earlier on May 29, tremors of magnitude 4.4 were felt in few parts of Jammu and Kashmir. However, no reports of loss of life or injuries were reported. Indian Meteorological Department reported the depth of the quake to be 10 km.
On May 21, earthquake of magnitude 3.5 had hit Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh at around 9:57 AM. However, no loss of life or damage to property had been reported.
