Srinagar, June 9: An earthquake of 3.2 magnitude struck Jammu and Kashmir in the wee hours on Friday morning. As per the latest reports, the tremors were felt around 3.49 am. So far, there have been no reports of any damage or casualty in the region. Meanwhile, more details are awaited in the incident.
Earlier on May 29, tremors were felt in Jammu and Kashmir.

On May 19, latest geologic mapping in the Himalayan mountains of Jammu and Kashmir had suggested that a major earthquake, of magnitude 8 or greater, may strike Jammu and Kashmir, endangering the lives of as many as a million people.
On April 18, an earthquake measuring 5.0 at the Richter scale hit Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district. According to the US Geological Survey, the epicenter of the earthquake was located in the Hindu Kush Region in Afghanistan at the depth of 180 kilometre. In March, an earthquake of magnitude 4.8 shook the northwestern parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
