New Delhi, Jun 22: An earthquake of magnitude 5.0 on the Richter scale hit Nicobar Islands Region during wee hours on Friday morning. The medium intensity jolt was felt at 1.59 AM. Nicobar Island is a part of union territory Andaman and Nicobar.

Earlier on February 12, an earthquake of 5.6 magnitude hit the Andaman Islands. As per the meteorological department, the earthquake occurred at around 8: 09 AM. No casualties or damage were reported.
