Eid 2018 Date in India: Eid will be celebrated on June 16 as the moon was not sighted on Thursday evening. Notably, Islamic calendar follows the lunar cycle, a new month begins with the sighting of the moon on 29th of every month. Eid will be celebrated in India on two different dates as Muslims in some parts of the country began fasting for Ramadan month one day after a majority of the Muslims started. Muslims in some parts of Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar began fasting for Ramadan from May 18 as the moon was not sighted there on May 16. However, Muslims in remaining parts of the country saw the moon on May 16 and began fasting for Ramadan from May 17. Therefore, if the moon is sighted in each part of the country, those who began fasting from May 18 will have to keep an extra fast later.
