New Delhi: Anand Mahinda expressed confidence that Mahindra Group is ready to compete with Tesla if it enters the Indian electric vehicle (EV) market. Anand Mahindra is the chairman of the Mahindra Group. He referred to the surge of foreign automakers following India’s economic liberalization in 1991. Companies such as Daewoo, Ford, General Motors, and Hyundai introduced advanced technologies and designs. Mahindra highlighted that his company successfully withstood the competition.

Eluding confidence in his company, Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra said the company is ready to face competition from Tesla if the American EV maker enters the Indian market. Responding to a query on social media platform X, Mahindra referred to past challenges the company has overcome in a competitive market.

Mahindra recalled similar concerns arising when India opened its economy to foreign investments in 1991. Global automobile brands like Daewoo, Ford, General Motors, and Hyundai brought advanced technologies and designs to the market. Despite this, Mahindra’s company remained strong in the industry.

“We have been asked similar questions ever since the opening up of the Indian economy in 1991. How will you compete against Tata, Maruti, and all MNCs? But we’re still around,” Mahindra stated.
