New Delhi, March 11: French President Emmanuel Macron and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Varanasi on Monday. The security has also been beefed-up in the city for their visit. “Paramilitary forces, Black Cat commandos and a team of Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) are also present here. Our whole intelligence wing is present,” said the District Magistrate, Varanasi.

Ahead of Modi, Macron’s visit to Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath on Friday reached there to take stock of preparations for the high-profile visit. Adityanath met district officials and the police top brass and understood the travel plans of the French President and assessed the preparedness of the visit.

Modi, Macron’s Complete Schedule: 

The visiting dignitaries will reach the Lal Bahadur Shastri Airport here around 10.25 a.m and after a brief break, will fly in a chopper to Dadarkalan in Mirzapur.

Macron and Modi will then take part in the inauguration of Uttar Pradesh’s largest solar plant at Mirzapur for 20 minutes after which they will drive back to the helipad before flying off to the Badlapur and then to the Deen Dayal Handicraft Institute.

Macron will then go to Derek helipad from where he and Modi, who is also the Lok Sabha member from Varanasi, will drive to Assi Ghat on the banks of the holy river Ganga. They will take a boat ride followed by lunch, and in the evening, will fly back to New Delhi in a special IAF plane.

Earlier on Sunday,  French President Emmanuel Macron visited the Taj Mahal in Agra. Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) officials said Macron spent over an hour, evincing keen interest in the exquisite inlay work of the 17th century monument. The President also watched the sunset from the Taj.
