New Delhi: An encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in Noorbagh area of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday morning, news agency ANI reported. Another encounter out broke at Dooru Shahabad town in Anantnag district. Reportedly, the gunfight started after the security forces received inputs about the presence of militants, following which they launched a search and cordon operation.

As per reports, two terrorists are believed to be trapped and operations are underway. Internet services have been suspended at both the places. More details are awaited.

The incident comes a few days after three Jammu and Kashmir policemen who were abducted by the terrorists from Shopian district and were killed. The incident took place on September 21. The bodies of two Special Police Officers (SPOs) and a constable were recovered from an orchard in Wangam area. A Twitter handle purportedly belonging to the Hizbul Mujahideen group had claimed responsibility for the abduction and killing.

A few days ago, a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist was killed and eight security personnel, including a DSP, were injured in an encounter in Reasi district.

Recently, security forces had released a new hit-list of terrorists which includes top names from Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Al Badr, Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind.

Nearly three weeks ago, terrorists had abducted and later released relatives of policemen from various places in south Kashmir. Earlier in July, police had recovered the body of constable Javaid Ahmad. He was abducted by militants from his home in the Shopian district.

In June, Army jawan Aurangzeb was abducted and killed by terrorists in Pulwama while he was on his way back home to celebrate Eid with his family. His bullet-riddled body was found on the outskirts of the district hours after a massive search operation was launched.
