New Delhi: A 23-year-old engineering student was stabbed multiple times and killed in broad daylight on Thursday in Lucknow’s Gomti Nagar Vistara locality by a group of unidentified miscreants. The deceased was identified as Prashant Singh, a B-Tech student studying at a prominent engineering college in the Uttar Pradesh capital. Singh had gone to meet a friend at around 3 PM in Alakhnanda Apartments in the posh area when a group of around 10-12 men stopped his SUV, pulled him out and stabbed him multiple times in the chest. According to reports, the miscreants had been waiting for him in front of Gate number 1 where the incident took place. Brutally injured, Singh tried to step out of his car and entered the building. He was rushed to the hospital where he died during treatment. The victims’ body was sent for a post mortem. Also Read - Coronavirus Lockdown: Now Community Kitchens Will Provide Food to Migrant Workers in UP

Lucknow Police Commissioner Sujit Pandey said that the victim reportedly had an argument with a junior earlier when he had gone to Barabanki to celebrate his friend’s birthday. An investigation is underway.



“We are going through CCTV footage and hope that the accused will be arrested soon,” he said.
