New Delhi, Apr 20: Just three days after a 7-year-old girl was raped during a wedding ceremony in Etah district, another 9-year-old girl was raped and murdered in a ring ceremony in the same district on Friday morning. The incident happened in the Kalitha Village, Etah district, during a ring ceremony. The girl’s body was found

On Thursday evening, the victim and her family went to attend the ring ceremony of their neighbour’s daughter. The 9-year-old reportedly went missing from the place event at around 9 PM. According to reports, the minor girl was raped by Pintu, a 22-year-old man, who was working as a helper in the ring ceremony.

“My daughter was last spotted with Pintu by my niece who was on the roof during the ceremony. Pintu had asked Rachna to bring a glass of water, while he was in the backyard of our home. As soon she brought water, Pintu forced her to come along in the field. Since we all were busy in the ceremony, we forgot to check as to where my daughter was,” the victim’s father told Times of India.

He added that at around 10 PM, when he enquired about the girl, no one had any idea where she was. “I want death penalty as justice for my daughter, who was brutally raped and murdered,” her mother said. As per the media reports, the 9-years-old died strangulated. She had rapture marks on her body.

The district police report said that the initial investigation confirmed that the girl was raped and then murdered. They have sent the body for post-mortem and the accused has been arrested by the police.

The accused has been charged under IPC sections 302 (Murder), 376 (Rape) and (Causing disappearance of evidence of offence, or giving false information to screen offender) and POCSO act. The police have also started interrogating the accused about the incident.

According to reports, an average of 30 women are abducted and 8 are raped every day in the state of Uttar Pradesh. More than 100 FIRs are filed by the victims of harassment, daily.

Recently, an incident of an 8-year old girl who was abducted, raped and murdered in Kathua district in Jammu and Kashmir has jolted the country with anger and outrage.
