Lucknow, October 4: Former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar on Monday said it is the responsibility of every person to ensure our villages have full access to electricity. He added 20 thousand households will be provided with the solar lamps by 2020.

Tendulkar was pleased by a generous welcome by the villagers in Barabanki. He said he is visiting Lucknow after 1994. The visit refreshed his memories, he claimed.

Tendulkar participated in a private event organised by a private electricity company in Barabanki. He also distributed solar lamps and the documents of electricity connections to weavers in the district. Enthused by his visit, villagers said the electricity will help them in generating more jobs. They will also be able to increase the production of many handicraft products. Barabanki is one of the most backward districts in the country.

Tendulkar reached the Amausi airport at Lucknow in the afternoon. Badegaon houses a population of 16,000 people. Ahead of the visit by the Master Blaster, the administration remained alert. Uttar Pradesh Police deployed security forces to ensure safety.
