New Delhi, Dec 14: The second and final phase of voting for Gujarat Assembly elections 2017 is going to be over at 5 pm on Thursday. With this, the polling process for both Himachal Pradesh Assembly Elections 2017 and Gujarat poll will end today. Several news channels and agencies will release their exit poll numbers soon after 5:30 pm today. While opinion polls had given an upper hand to the BJP in both the states, it will be interesting to see what the exit polls have in store. (Watch Live streaming of Maha Exit Polls here)
Both Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat have seen high pitch elections this year. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress President-elect Rahul Gandhi campaigned in the two states tirelessly, addressing several rallies in both the states. BJP President Amit Shah and other Central Ministers were also seen campaigning in the two states.
While Himachal Pradesh recorded a 74 per cent voter turnout, Gujarat recorded 68 per cent voter turnout in first phase. The final voter turnout for Gujarat elections second phase is yet to be declared as voting was still underway.
From Goods and Services Tax (GST) and demonetisation to Patidar politics and Pakistan controversy, the Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat elections have seen issues that became attacking points for the Congress and the BJP. Modi and Rahul Gandhi were seen lashing out and taking digs at each other in their rallies one after the other.
The BJP has claimed it would get 50 seats in Himachal Pradesh. In Gujarat, the BJP has said that it was confident of winning over 150 seats out of 182 while the Congress has said that a “surprise” cannot be ruled out.
