Srinagar, August 28: People who attended the wreath laying ceremony of ASI Ab Rashid in DPL Srinagar, were heartbroken to see the family members of the martyr weeping that also included a 5-year-old daughter. Rashid was killed in the encounter with Jaish-e-Mohammed militants in Pulwama on Saturday.
Scores of people on Sunday marked their attendance at the funeral prayers of Mohammad Yasin Teli, the CRPF jawan, who was also killed in the Pulwama encounter. The 32-year-old deceased jawan, as per reports, was the only earning member of the family and has left behind parents, besides four sisters.
The Pulwama encounter began in the wee hours of Saturday and the fierce gun battle went on for nearly twelve hours in which 8 security personnel were killed, out of which four belonged to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) while the rest four were a part of the J&K police.
Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Muhammad claimed the responsibility of carrying out the attack in which three of their men were neutralised by the Indian security forces.
Union Defence Minister Arun Jaitley took to Twitter to condemn the attack. “My thoughts & prayers are with the families of J&K police & CRPF personnel martyred in the #pulwama encounter.(sic),” he tweeted.
