Family of Three Attempts Suicide After ‘Influential Men’ Molest Mother-Daughter in Meerut

A family of three consumed poison after the man who allegedly harassed their daughter, got his family to thrash them and molest the girl and her mother.

New Delhi: A family of three in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut consumed poison and attempted mass suicide, days after the women were molested and allegedly harassed by members of an ‘influential’ family.

A 21-year-old student of a Delhi college and her parents attempted suicide late Wednesday night, reportedly after they were attacked by the family of man- who had been harassing their daughter.

According to a Times of India report, an argument broke out between both the families soon after which the accused people molested the girl and her mother and thrashed the girl’s father. The victim family then approached the police but their relatives say that the matter was hushed and a ‘compromise was struck between the two clans’.

The mother of the 21-year-old died on Thursday while the girl and her father are battling for life.

The police in the meantime has filed an FIR and booked eight people.
