Farmers protest at YEIDA, demand increased compensation

The Uttar Pradesh government had given its approval for payment of the increased amount as 'no-litigation bonus' to YEIDA farmers.

Greater Noida, Dec 16: Farmers from Mathura today staged a protest in front of YEIDA office here over delay in paying them the additional 64.7 per cent compensation. The farmers under the banner of ‘Kisan Sabha Mathura’ sat on dharna in fornt of Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) office.

“The state government had announced additional compensation for YEIDA farmers. But we have not been payed yet. We demand the immediate payment of the additional compensation and the 10 per cent developed land as was given to Noida and Greater Noida farmers as per the high court order,” Sabha convenor Digambar Singh said.

The Uttar Pradesh government had given its approval for payment of the increased amount as ‘no-litigation bonus’ to YEIDA farmers. YEIDA ACEO Amarnath Upadhyay said, “The farmers will get their due compensation once the authority here gets adequate money for the purpose.” The protesting farmers also demanded construction of a service road till Agra.
