New Delhi: Protesting farmers have planned a massive march to the national capital on Friday. Regarding the security arrangements, the Delhi Police on Thursday stated that all preparations to maintain law and order have been made and that they are ready to tackle any situation arising at the Singhu border. They added that no extra security deployment has been made at the border.
A senior police official told news agency PTI, “We have planned a significant deployment at the Singhu border on Delhi-Chandigarh highway ahead of farmers’ march towards the national capital. We are analysing the situation and if we get any intelligence input or information about the movement of farmers, the decision will be taken accordingly.”
According to what an officer told PTI, local police officers are on active duty at checkpoints throughout the Singhu border right now, diligently enforcing GRAP-4 provisions and ensuring everything stays peaceful and orderly.
Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said the police will not let us go to Delhi. Leaders will hold a meeting to decide on further strategy.
