New Delhi, Jun 3: The father of 23-year-old Ankit Saxena, who was killed by the family of his girlfriend in February this year in West Delhi, hosted an Iftar party in the national capital on Sunday. The Iftar party has reportedly been organised to promote communal harmony.

The Iftar party has been organised under the banner ‘The Ankit Saxena Trust’. As quoted by a media report, Yashpal Saxena said that the Iftar party is not being organised with any political or religous agenda. He claimed that the idea to host the event came from the Muslim friends of the family.

He also added that the family is planning to bring people together for Eid, Navratri, Ganesh Chaturthi among other festivals. In March, the family had celebrated Ankit’s 24th birthday by organising a bhandara. The food was served at the same spot where he was hacked to death.

23-year-old Ankit Saxena was killed in front of his parents allegedly by the family members of his girlfriend in west Delhi in February. He was stabbed and his throat was slit using a sharp weapon. The incident took place when Saxena, a photographer by profession, was on his way to meet his girlfriend. He was caught by her family in Raghubir Nagar and a verbal spat followed. Saxena, was then kicked and punched by the girl’s father and uncle before the former stabbed him and slit his throat.

Ankit Saxena’s Father Seeks Death Sentence For Son’s Murderers

Seeking justice for his son’s death, Ankit Saxena’s father said that he will be “thankful” if the Delhi government will help his family in fighting the case. “We want justice. Murderers of my son should get death sentence. I am an ordinary man and I have no resources to fight the case. If Delhi government helps us in getting best advocates and making a strong case, I will be thankful,” he said.
