Kolkata: A fire broke out at a high-rise office building located in Kolkata’s Park Street on Monday, reported news agency ANI.

According to reports, the fire at the Apeejay House broke out at around 11 am. The reason behind it is suspected a short circuit in the bank server located on the fifth floor of the building.

As per latest reports, ten fire tenders are currently on the spot and efforts to douse the fire are underway.

Photos posted by news agency ANI and Twitter users show black smoke coming out of the building.

“Several fire tenders are busy in dousing the flames,” an official said.

Efforts are being made to evacuate the building, which houses several corporate offices and headquarters of the Apeejay Surendra Group.

“Initially, light smoke was seen around 11 am, but by 11.30 flames were seen gushing out of windows with thick black smoke,” eyewitnesses said.
