As per updates, four fire tenders have rushed to the spot to bring it under control. The fire has reportedly broken at a furniture shop in the area. More details in the mater are awaited.

Shaheen Bagh was the epicentre of the protests against the Centre’s contentious Citizenship Amendment Act 2019.

Soon after the announcement to impose lockdown was made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the police last week removed protestors at Shaheen Bagh, more than three months after they had occupied a critical road connecting Noida and south Delhi.

As per updates, the protestors were also cleared from anti-CAA protest site in Hauz Rani in south Delhi, Turkman Gate in Old Delhi and Jaffarabad in northeast Delhi on Tuesday morning.

The protesters at Shaheen Bagh, mostly women, were on a sit-in since December 15 against the newly amended Citizenship Act, the proposed National Register of Citizens and National Population Register.
