First visually-impaired IFS officer Beno Zephine felicitated by DoPT Ministry

June 18: Beno Zephine, first visually-impaired Indian Forest Service(IFS) officer was felicitated by Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) on Thursday. The 25-year-old was a probationary worker at State Bank of India and now is the first 100% blind IFS officer of this country.

Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions who was present at the event said that she was keen to be a part of IFS. Although there were constraints, she overcame all the hurdles with the co-operation of concerned department.

Singh said, “Matter of great pride. Today, she is a proud member of the Indian Foreign Services.” Zephine thanked everyone for helping her, she said, “Thank Jitendra sir and all officers of DoPT who have been with me in this process of allocation.” She also said “I ask everyone to bestow their blessings on me.”
