Smriti Irani Assets: Union Minister and BJP’s candidate from the high-stakes Uttar Pradesh’s Amethi Lok Sabha seat Smriti Irani and her husband Zubin Irani on Tuesday declared joint assets worth over Rs 17 crore. The assets include four houses against her name with two in Mumbai (jointly owned by her husband), one in Pune, and one in Goa. Smriti Irani also owns an MG Hector car worth Rs 28 lakh, and jewellery over Rs 37 lakh.
Smriti Irani’s declared immovable assets are listed at worth Rs. 5.66 crore while her husband Zubin Irani owns immovable assets worth Rs. 5.51 crore. The immovable assets include six agricultural lands and one non-agricultural land. She has four houses in her name, two in Mumbai (jointly owned by her husband), one in Goa, and one in Pune.
She has declared movable assets worth Rs. 3.08 crore, while her husband Zubin Irani has movable assets worth over Rs. 3.3 crore. Smriti Irani’s movable assets include over Rs. 25,48,000 deposited in five savings accounts and she has invested Rs 88 lakh in mutual funds. She has also declared a Public Provident Fund/Post Office balance worth Rs. 30,77,936.
According to the affidavit, the former actor owns an MG Hector car priced at around Rs. 27 lakhs which she purchased in 2023. She owns gold and other jewelry worth Rs. 37,48,440.
Irani filed her nomination from Amethi Lok Sabha seat following a grand road show and according to her election affidavit, there are no pending criminal cases against her.
Irani, in the affidavit filed during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, had declared the total wealth of the family at around Rs. 11 crore, which has now increased to more than Rs 17 crore. This means that in the last five years, the wealth of Smriti Irani’s family has increased by about Rs. 6 crore.
In 2019, Smriti Irani caused a major upset as she defeated Rahul Gandhi by a margin of 55,120 votes.
