New Delhi: After several days of build-up, US President Donald Trump will finally arrive for his maiden state visit to India on Monday. The two-day visit will see Trump, who will be accompanied by First Lady Melania, visit Ahmedabad, Agra and finally arrive in Delhi, all within a span of just a few hours. The US President will arrive directly in Ahmedabad, where, welcomed and accompanied by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he will inaugurate the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) Stadium at Motera. The stadium, which has a seating capacity of 1,10,000 will become the largest cricket stadium in the world after its inauguration. The event, which was earlier called ‘Kem Chho Trump,’ was later given its current name of ‘Namaste Trump,’ on the lines of the ‘Howdy Modi’ event addressed by PM Modi during his visit to the US last September to attend the 74th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session. Landing in Ahmedabad at 11:40 AM, the Trumps will leave for Agra at 3:30 PM and reach the city at 4:45 PM. There, they will visit the Taj Mahal at 5:15 PM and finally arrive at the national capital at 7:30 PM.



Earlier today, while departing from the US, Trump remarked, “I look forward to being with the people of India, we will be with millions and millions of people. I get along very well with PM Modi, he is a friend of mine. The PM told me this will be the biggest event they have ever had.”

The official part of the ceremony will begin on Tuesday, on the second and final day of Trump’s visit. While the two leaders will have bilateral talks and sign various agreements and Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs), as well as a joint presser, no major trade deal is expected to be arrived at.

Tuesday will also see First Lady Melania Trump visit a school in the national capital. The Trumps will finally leave for the US at 10 PM after attending a banquet at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The US President will be accompanied by a 12-member delegation, including, besides the First Lady, his daughter and advisor Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner, himself an advisor to Trump.
